Ancestral voices, electronic dreams.
LAIMAN (Aymen Goubaa) is a Tunisian artist, composer, and producer whose work bridges the gap between ancestral heritage and contemporary sound. Born and based in Gabès, in Southern Tunisia, he draws inspiration from the oral traditions, chants, and rhythms of his homeland, reimagining them through electronic music, immersive performances, and multimedia experiences.
At the heart of his practice lies a dialogue between memory and future. LAIMAN transforms traditional songs and collective stories into soundscapes that resonate with today’s audiences, offering a new way of experiencing heritage. His performances are immersive journeys — where voices of the past meet synthesizers, beats, and interactive visuals, creating what he calls a form of sonic poetry.
Beyond his own shows such as Laiman Ymazzek and Future Memories, he initiates and leads numerous cultural projects: Laiman Discovering (highlighting local talents and traditional songs), Bkhurat (a collective dedicated to endangered oral heritage), Bkhuour’Art (a multidisciplinary African collaboration), and Harmonies Méditerranéennes (mentoring students and semi-professionals in their transition to the artistic world). He also conducts trainings, workshops, and masterclasses in music production, audiovisual creation, and artistic project management, empowering the next generation of creators.
Exploring installations, VR/AR, and interactive experiences, LAIMAN expands his vision into spaces where art, technology, and community meet. His work is not only a personal artistic expression, but also a contribution to preserving, transforming, and transmitting cultural memory in contemporary forms.
